i got back to the home town today and did a bit of spirited driving. the car has 170k on it, has always held good oil pressure (25-65), is an n/a, and runs strong. the oil pressure sending unit was replaced about 20k ago. it works pretty well and just flickers from time to time. doing a second gear pull i happened to catch a glimpse of the OP gauge as i hit 5000 RPMs and it just dropped. straight from 65-70 down to 0. i tried it a few more times and every time it drops straight down at 5k. i wonder if this is typical failure method of the sending unit or of the old engine? the last time the sending unit went out on me, it just flickered and finally sat at 0.
